At first it was a little uncomfortable to wear and walking with it was a little painful, but the more I got used to it there was less pain. I don't wear it everyday, only when I know I am going to walk a lot. Definitely recommend this!
I was diagnosed with hallux rigidus about 7 years ago and when I walk for a great length of time I have experienced much pain around my big toe joint afterward. I did have a cortisone injection about a year ago but the beneficial effects have now faded and I would, for now, rather not experience the pain associated with getting the shot itself. From what I read stabilizing the joint itself is said to reduce the inflammation so I ordered this brace since I knew I could not tolerate a carbon fiber or stainless steel plate in the shoes. I put this in my sneaker one day before I walked about 2 hours and it seems to have reduced the aftermath of pain in that joint markedly. From now on if I am going on any extended treks I will be pulling this brace out to reduce joint pain after the fact. Great cost for something that works!
Very comfortable. Use it primarily to ease discomfort on my daily walks. Highly recommend!
Working so well on my big toe I purchased 3 of these
My daughter broke her toe at the tip at a play structure. She needed crutches for the first few days but the splint gave her enough comfort to sleep and walk short distances. Now she has lost it because it is tan. Maybe an option of another brighter louder color. It gets lost in socks, sheets, etc. She's better anyway. Thank you for the bridge between crutches and walking. She was comfortable in your brace. My daughter is 5'3" and needed a s/m.
